About Us

The Grant Ranch story begins in the late 1960s, when a retired railroad worker and a beautician—Duane and Mary Grant—put down roots in Marengo with their three young children. With a shared dream and a lot of grit, they opened a small neighborhood bar that quickly became a local gathering place. That first little spot marked the beginning of a family tradition.

Over the years, the Grant Ranch moved and grew right along with the family. After running the west side location for several years, Duane and Mary relocated the bar to the south side of the Marengo Square, where the second Grant Ranch came to life. In the 1980s, they took their vision to Keswick and opened the third location, continuing to build a reputation for good food, cold drinks, and the kind of hospitality that made everyone feel like family.

When Duane and Mary eventually stepped away from the bar business, the Grant Ranch name sat quietly—waiting for its next chapter. That spark was reignited in 2003 when their daughter, Sherry Fisher, restored a crumbling building on the Sigourney Square and opened a restaurant and lounge, proudly carrying on the family legacy. After many successful years, Sherry moved on, and once again, the Grant Ranch name was set aside.

But traditions this meaningful don’t fade—they wait for the right hands to bring them back.

Today, that role belongs to Duane and Mary’s first-born grandchild, Danette Meyer, who is proudly reviving the family’s legacy with Grant Ranch Grub & Pub. After an extensive remodel of a longtime business on the east side of the Sigourney Square, Danette—alongside her mom, Uncle Scott and Aunt Sally Grant, and her brother Deric Bazyn—is breathing new life into a name that has meant so much to so many.

Grant Ranch Grub & Pub is more than a restaurant and bar; it’s the next chapter of a family story rooted in hard work, community, and togetherness. With good food, cold drinks, and warm company, the Grant family is once again opening their doors and welcoming friends old and new.

The tradition continues—and the best times are still ahead.
